Egarosindur Community Hospital's annual report documents maternal, child, and adolescent health outcomes for Pakundia Upazila, the rural community in Kishoreganj district the hospital has served since 2000.
Service areas covered
- Antenatal and postnatal care visits, including home visits conducted by female field organisers.
- Outpatient department volumes across general medicine, paediatrics, and dental services.
- Eye care services delivered through the hospital's restructured ophthalmic care unit.
The home-visit model
A key element of the hospital's outreach is its use of female field organisers conducting home visits to pregnant women and new mothers who cannot easily travel to the hospital. This model has informed outreach design across several of NUK's other health programs, including the newer eye hospital in Savar Upazila.
The hospital originated from disaster response following the 1998 flood and cyclone, illustrating a recurring institutional pattern at NUK: emergency interventions that mature into permanent services.
