The Programme of International Women's Day 2008

Programme: Rally and Discussion meeting on International Women’s Day with the participation of

• Local women NGOs leaders;

• Elected Women Representatives of Six City Corporation and 19 Municipalities;

• Teachers & Students of Secondary Schools and Colleges in 42 districts.

Each Stakeholders will organize Rally followed by discussion meeting with the presence and attendance of DC, TNO, DWA Officers, Parents, Student & Teacher of secondary School & Colleges as well as elected women members of UPs & Chairman, Elite person from the respective areas.

Nari Uddug Kendra (NUK) is a national women development support organization mandated to promote gender equality, human rights and personal empowerment of women and girls in Bangladesh. NUK’s mission is to create an enabling environment for mainstreaming gender, promotion of human rights and socio-economic and political empowerment of women. NUK’s main intervention strategy is to influence government policy through advocacy, lobbying, networking and partnership with Government, NGOs, women’s groups and women leadership at different level as agent of change and beneficiaries.

Every Year NUK facilitates its powerful networks of partners to promote human rights, economic justice and equality and empowerment of women at different level with the participation of different stakeholders and common people as a day of solidarity for the economic, political and social achievements of women in global, national and local context. Manusher Jonno Foundation at NUK’s working area throughout the 42 districts supports The International Women’s Day-2008 observance. NUK’s representatives will attend the rally and Discussion Meeting accordingly.
